The best time of year to join a gym is whenever you are ready to begin or refine a fitness program. There is no one best time of year to join a gym, although some gyms offer membership discount specials at the start of spring, summer, or fall. If you want join a gym when it is least likely to be crowded, try the summer, when more people exercise outdoors or go away on vacation. 

Gyms tend to be most crowded in early January when anyone who has made getting fit a New Year’s resolution is getting started. Get ahead of the crowd and consider signing up in the fall. Then you can make fitness part of your routine before the winter holidays and you can avoid gaining extra pounds from holiday parties.

But no matter what time of year it is, when you are ready to improve your fitness, that’s when you should review the gyms near you and take the plunge. No matter when you join, a gym membership can motivate and inspire you, and a gym is a great resource for help and advice as you embark on a path to better fitness.
