Warranty Coverage and Maintenance

What constitutes proper maintenance in order to be eligble for warranty payment?

Text Size | Print

Aftermarket auto warranties and lifetime warranties, other coverages may require you to properly maintain your vehicle in order to be eligible for payments under the warranty agreement. But what constitutes "proper maintenance?"

Under the language of your lifetime warranty agreement, that maintenance is most likely the same as the recommended cycle set by the manufacturer. Follow the aftermarket auto warranty language to the letter. If a specific maintenance cycle is spelled out, that is what you will need to follow in order to be eligible for coverage. If the warranty instructs you to follow the manufacturer's maintenance cycle, you can get the manufacturer's specifications by checking your car's owner manual. You can also get it on the Internet, or from the dealer where you purchased the vehicle.

Follow those recommendations exactly, otherwise you risk voiding the terms of your lifetime warranty.
